DVD (all DRMd up) was indeed bought by the truckload when released but never 'fire-saled' to these levels so soon after release - probably due to the average joe having much less storage and codec and internet capabilities.
The fact remains: Products flying off the shelves never need these desperate incentives to move boxes.
