Sanyo's 42LM4WPR-E HDTV gets wet
Sanyo's waterproof TV managed to slip under our CeBIT radar last week, but not for long. It appears they were showing off the sexily-named 42LM4WPR-E (oh yeah, speak nerdy to us), a 42-inch HDTV that stands out among a sea of HDTVs (pun intended) by being one of the few waterproof models on the market. Granted, there are very few particular applications which would require the average Engadget reader to require a watertight HDTV, but we have been meaning to install something like this in our working rain-forest simulator at the Engadget compound, and now's as good a time as any to buy.

I see...this is for the super rich people that can't miss their tv shows in the morning...or, maybe it looks good when viewing shows in your pool.

This kinda thing is what is being looked at in the UK due to the Anti Smoking thing in public places. Mount waterproof TV's so people still go to the Pubs. Smoke (outside) and still watch the game...

How long before one of these shows up in some rapper and/or professional athlete's shower on a future episode of "Cribs?"

I dunno, if you live in an apartment with a sprinkler system... this might be handy. How about just make my frickin' iPod waterproof? That's the only time I've got left to watch all the vodcasts I've been missing out on!

"oh yeah, speak nerdy to us" HAHA, I almost spit out my orange juice when I read that...
curtz @ Mar 19th 2007 9:52PM
Could you let me know why that's nerdy?
Kind of "Mike Oxlong" thing?

I think this would be sweet on a yacht/boat. Cruise out, watch some movies or play some video games or something, but if it rains or gets splashed, no big deal.

So why is there an inverted Sammy logo on the screen??

"So why is there an inverted Sammy logo on the screen??"
Its a reflection. Sanyo's booth must have been across from Sammy's at CeBit.

Take the porn comment + the spew across the room comment + a squeegee = you can guess what I was going to say. Clean up at isle 69.

not to be the killjoy but this would actually sell well to bar owners with outdoor beer gardens, pool bars at hotels etc. Sorry for the practical comment...
