Linksys' KiSS 1600 HD media device launched at CeBIT

Linksys has a new wireless media adapter today, the KiSS 1600, which fairly synonymous with fellow router-pusher Netgear's Digital Entertainer HD. As expected, KiSS 1600 streams high def digital video, audio, and photos (sorry, we're light on info about codecs) from the internet or any locally networked device straight to your TV set. And thanks to its HDMI connection, DVDs get upscaled 720p. Unfortunately the nitty-gritty specs are incog for now, but you'll be able to purchase (not steal) a KiSS sometime soon for a hefty £259.99 (about $503).

Let's hope that they put a new media processor in it.. The 1500 could barely decode a DivX movie, and the software is still buggy - even after severel updates - and is generely verly poorly writing from a userfriendly standpoint

This seems a little steep unless it comes with some sort of hard drive or at the very least there's an enclosure hidden inside that thing. I'm still looking for the holy grail streaming device with hard drive AND at least a dvd in the same unit.

And I think we can all assume that this piece of equipment will as extremly buggy as everything else KiSS has ever released. Sorry KiSS, you got my money once - it will never happend again.

Previous KiSS products have not incorporated UPnP AV - if this one doesn't either then I don't think it standa a chance. Get with the game, guys!
