Another DCT's been announced, this time by ATI, and this time predictably called the TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner. Although specifics were sparse and pictures were absent, the ATI unit passed CableLABS certification and will apparently be sold with Dell systems as early as January 30th (i.e. when the first round of Vista PCs see their launch). Most interesting big: "It is scheduled to be available... inside desktop and notebook PCs..." CableCARDS in laptops? What a lovely and disturbing thought -- didn't we all just jettison that PCMCIA card slot?

I wonder if their software will suck as much as previous attempts.

Yeah, I'm really excited about the hardware announcement! Finally, CableCard inside my HTPC!!!
On the other hand, ATI software does notoriously suck (for those who use it) and it's hardware is not very popular/stable with 3rd party software like SageTV, MythTV or MediaPortal ;(

This is great news!! Finally, CableCard in my HTPC! So, this means I will probably have to break down and upgrade to Vista, since this puppy will probably not work on XP.
Hope some more reliable suppliers like Hauppauge start providing CableCard solutions too!

What do you guys mean by "Another DCT's been announced"? What other PCI CableCard solutions have been announced?
