Sharp announces pricetag for 42-inch 1080p Aquos LCD
Just in case our last mention left you a bit in the lurch, Sharp has come forward with the pricing and availability for their 42-inch LC-42D62U. The 1080p Aquos LCD boasts of a 6,000:1 contrast ratio, 450 nits of brightness and 6ms response time, but will be landing in the States for a perfectly reasonable $2,500 this October. With the way prices and specs have been trending at this CEDIA, we can't wait to see how things shape up next year.

pretty good... but should i get a LCD tv, or a Projector?? i want to turn my garage into a gaming/movie room... any suggestions?
Yeah, $2500 is quite reasonable.
Yeah, sure, reasonable.
Where there's rhyme, there's reason.
Wasn't this thing (without the 1080p) going for $7000 about a year ago?!
For that price a girl should also come with it...
@KakaduDreamer, and throw in the second one at half price. Kidding. I don't think I'll be ready to buy an HDTV these holidays, but at least the price range seems to be steady amongst ~40 inch LCDs. I'll make sure I save enough for when Halo 3 is realeased.
how can you guys be complaining about a 1080p lcd for $2500? thats damn cheap, a year ago these things only existed in the form of the sharp 45"..which cost 3 times as much.
your on a gadget site, yet you balk at paying a palty $2500 for a 1080p display....hah
I am certainly not complaining. This is a fine display and I plan on purchasing it as my next computer/tv monitor.
Someone will need to prove their marketed contrast ratio. LCD is notoriously bad for contrast performance, and manufacturers are well known for exaggerating on their product specifications (especially for flat-panel displays).
Daaaamn, that's not bad.
Yeah, $2500 is just soooo cheap.
I think I have that in the cushions of my swank leather couch here in my Cambridge, MA brownstone. Or perhaps I have that in the cupholder of my Audi S6.
That design is copy of samsung.
Sharp put announced more screen sizes for the European market (37" among others) - I wish they would import the full range here. It's a much better design than the old silver Sharps.
